  1. Be a Rainbow
Share

My new song "Be a Rainbow" is based on the inspirational Maya Angelou quote "Try to be a rainbow in someone else's storm cloud".

Lyrics

Be a Rainbow

Pin a message to your door
When Old Man Trouble comes to call
‘Cos you’re already booked, your diary’s full
You’ve got no time at all
Much too busy. Way too busy

Leave a letter in your window
When that old Black Dog comes your way
To say you’re out of town and can’t come round
To walk with him today
Much too busy. Way too busy

For you’ll have a full agenda
When you’ve other fish to fry
There’s no turning back, no time to pack
Your place is in the sky

Why not try – to be a rainbow
A rainbow high – up in the sky
So someone’s storm – y set of rain clouds
Will after all – just pass on by

Be a light in someone’s darkness
Be a bridge across the stream
And pretty soon that Old Man Trouble
He’ll be just a distant dream

Place a poster on your wall
For when the blues they start to bite
To say you’ve other more important things
Than sing the blues tonight
Much too busy. Way too busy

'Cos you’ll have a full agenda
When you’ve other fish to fry
There’s no turning back, no time to pack
Your place is in the sky

Why not try – to be a rainbow
A rainbow high – up in the sky
So someone’s storm – y set of rain clouds
Will after all – just pass on by

Be a light in someone’s darkness
Be a bridge across the stream
And pretty soon that Old Man Trouble
He’ll be just a distant dream

Be a rainbow in a storm-cloud
Just the way the poet said
And change those greys to multi-colours
Place a rainbow there instead
