The oldest written song on the album. I wrote it for my daughter’s wedding back in 2007 (it was the bride’s father’s speech!) When the songs of this album were nearing completion I realised that Seize the Day’s message would fit in perfectly with the other songs’ big issues. (Written June 2007. Recorded November – December 2018)
Lyrics
Some things are never quite certain
While others are written in stone
Some things with hindsight seem perfectly obvious
How could we never have known.
Some people push at their boundaries
To see just how far they can go
Some people like to see how much confusion
Results if they dare to say no.
But deep in the midst of uncertainty
Each second that passes us by
Is never repeated no matter how much you may try.
So seize the day. Don't let time slip away.
All these moments will fall through your fingers
Like sand on the seashore if you let them trickle away
So seize the day. Seize the day.
Some people like to play solitaire
While others prefer to pick teams
Some people bottle up all their frustrations
And all of their unfulfilled dreams.
But deep in the midst of uncertainty
Each second that passes us by
Is never repeated no matter how much you may try.
So seize the day. Don't let time slip away.
All these moments will fall through your fingers
Like sand on the seashore if you let them trickle away
So seize the day. Seize the day
Seize the day. Seize the day.
